Winning is the start of something really exciting
Connective Chiropractic owner and principal Chiropractor, James Harrison, was delighted to have won the New Business of the Year Award. He explains, “Winning the New Business of the Year Award is a huge step for our business and the start of something really exciting. Because there are so many entrants for each award and the judging standard is high, the award feels more like a seal of approval from our local business community and is likely to help us grow and develop towards our goals even faster.”
Winning the New Business of the Year Award represents a stamp of approval in our community; that our business has local support and both acceptance and room to grow further. While we knew we had the support of our community before entering the awards, to know we also have the support from local businesses puts everything into stereo.
About the Inspire Awards New Business of the Year Award Category
The New Business of the Year Award category was open to businesses in the region who had been running for less than three years. Our award’s criteria was judged based on business performance against its objectives, business and financial planing, our success in overcoming business challenges to drive forward a business plan, staff involvement and motivation to meet business objectives and also our plans for growth in the future.
Connective Chiropractic opened officially in June 2016 but met its first huge challenge weeks later when its James Harrison’s father died. This changed everything in terms of both the outlook and drive for both James and the clinic itself. James explains, “Empowering Wellbeing is not just a fancy tagline for our clinic, but a real affirmation for people to release themselves from the shackles of not firing at their optimum and to get them to live their life the best they can. We find our clinic is now less about focussing on the pains and restrictions but more about the stories about how people are performing better, feeling better or staying better.”
Connecting Chiropractic, family, community and business
James reflects, “Connective Chiropractic started off quite apologetically in Basingstoke but it gained a huge amount of momentum and direction after my dad died. We focussed our energy on being ourselves, not being too stuffy and being open and accountable, whilst delivering the core standards of evidence-informed service you would expect from a practitioner with interests in both biomechanics and wellbeing.”
He notes, “Family and Community are huge parts of our business and the story of how we have grown and it perhaps comes to no surprise that we invited a mix of family and business friends to our table at the event. As a result however, winning the New Business of the Year award certainly impacted on many levels. Winning the New Business of the Year Award represents a stamp of approval in our community; that our business has local support and both acceptance and room to grow further. I knew we had the support of our community before entering the awards, but to know we also have the support from local businesses puts everything into.”

We thank the organisers, judges, and sponsors of the INSPIRE awards for promoting businesses such as ours and for recognising our business as this year’s New Business of the Year. We’ve learned so much about our business from applying but we also have met so many wonderful people along the way too, all of which we hope to keep in contact with over the next few months, either in person or on our social media pages. Special thanks must go to Destination Basingstoke (event organisers) and The Typeface Group (Award sponsors) and the entire of our Empowering Wellbeing Community.
